Twining is a form of traditional basket weaving that allows for sculptural improvisation. Interweaving jute and wax thread, twined pieces are able to be formed with intention, but are tightly woven and durable. Other natural materials can be incorporated to reinforce the meaning of the piece.

Twining is a slow, deliberate and very time consuming process. I find the repetition of the motion creates an inward feeling of quiet focus and meditation. Twining offers a way to access my sense of place in an interconnected system of nature that is enduring, purposeful, and alive.
